Amazon is a Prime Example of Sick Corporate America: BOYCOTT AMAZON!
Once you leave Amazon, you'll find out you never needed
I was the biggest Amazon sucker of all time, but then who isn’t. I’m afraid to look at all the shit I bought through the years since 1998! But now, my passion for convenience and mindless shopping has ended. I can no longer ignore that buying mindlessly from Amazon is precisely what we should not be doing now. Let me try to explain.
Every time you buy something from Amazon, you help a monopoly. And if that isn’t bad enough, you’re helping transfer wealth to the top and, at the same time, helping corporations kill our downtowns, local businesses, and other online small businesses. Additionally, our overconsumption and loyalty to Amazon make us addicted, leading everyone to believe Amazon is the only viable option online.
But the best of the boycott is to send a message to Jeff Bezos and all the billionaires that kissed the ring - that we’re no longer supporting them; we’re no longer on their side.
Before Trump installed himself as king of America, I used to say, “This will never happen because big business will not support a dictatorship.” - wrong. When I saw Jeff, Mark, Tim, and the Google guy all kissing the ring, I felt betrayed. And I knew we were in big trouble. Elon is in a class of its own. He was not there to kiss the ring; he bought the ring and was there to enjoy the other billionaires kissing it for him. And who pays for this shit show, we do.
Because they made their fortunes with our money and with the help of democracy, and now they are using this money to align themselves with a dictator who wants to destroy this democracy, let’s show them that the money we gave them to build their empire is no longer available. We cannot finance the people who want to destroy our democracy.
Boycotts are one of the most potent weapons we have in our arsenal. (And by the way, if you want to know where the name Boycott came from, read this great article.) Boycotts are legal despite Donald Trump's ridiculous claims to the contrary. And best of all, they are nonviolent. They are a simple cause-and-effect transaction. You support me, I support you, but if you screw me, I’ll no longer help you. Sounds like a fair deal to me.
The out-of-this-world successful Tesla boycott is here to show us that. I’m not including the attacks, of course. The simple act of our decision can move mountains; in the case of Tesla, it caused a giant collapse to Tesla, and it might even cause bankruptcy. People, we are not attacking Tesla, the corporation; they’re trying to halt the ascension of an insane self-proclaimed Nazi who wants to rule and take the world to a dark path of authoritarianism and white supremacy. Nice guy.
These billionaires, like Jeff Bezos, shamefully should have known better. They should have known who their customers were. But instead, they pledge allegiance to the pantheon of the wicked authoritarians. Shame on them. Let’s show them what we think.

Other Main Reasons to Boycott Amazon
Exploits workers and fights unions. Amazon has a long history of opposing unionization. The National Labor Relations Board is investigating 343 charges related to anti-union activities by Amazon, its subsidiaries, and direct contractors. During the unionization drive at a warehouse in Bessemer, Alabama, NBC News reports: “Amazon illegally arranged for a U.S. Postal Service mailbox to be installed in the fulfillment center parking lot during the election. The union alleged that it gave the impression that Amazon might have had access to the secret ballots cast by workers.” The company also recently rolled back its DEI initiatives. Amazon had set a goal in 2020 of doubling the number of Black vice presidents and directors. Source Green America
It has more than double the injury rates of the industry average. Recent research by the Strategic Organizing Center found that injury rates at Amazon facilities are reportedly double that of the industry average. In 2022, Amazon reported 39,000 injuries at warehouses, an increase of nearly 1,000 injuries from 2021. Source Green America
Creates dangerous working conditions for delivery workers. A May 2022 report from the Strategic Organizing Center found that nearly one in five workers experienced injuries, a 40 percent increase over the prior year. Source Green America
Facilitates anti-immigrant actions by the US Government. Starting in the first Trump Administration, the Guardian reported that Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosted the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) databases which allows "the department and its agencies to track and apprehend immigrants." DHS’ databases, currently hosted on AWS servers, allow the department to “supercharge surveillance and deportation,” according to immigrant advocates. Source Green America
Is a major climate emitter. Amazon’s climate emissions are similar to Denmark’s and its direct emissions grew seven percent between 2022 and 2023, in part due to increased emissions from delivery vehicles. Tech companies, including Amazon, are increasingly relying on fossil fuels and nuclear energy to power massive servers for AI technology, undermining their current climate and renewable energy commitments. Creates excessive packaging waste. A report from Oceana found that in 2019, Amazon generated 465 million pounds of plastic waste. This is “enough to circle the earth over a hundred times in the form of air pillows.” In response to environmental organization campaigns, Amazon has since taken steps to reduce plastic packaging, but the company still sends out plastic mailers with chasing arrows symbols, making it appear that they are recyclable when most municipalities can’t recycle them. Refuses to protect factory workers. In 2020, Amazon and Adidas supplier Hulu Garment in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, suspended its 1,020 workers, leaving workers owed $1 million in pay. Labor justice organizations, including Green America, are urging Amazon to provide payments to the workers, which it has refused to do so far. While Amazon adopted policies to protect consumers from toxic chemicals in its clothing, it has yet to adopt policies that protect workers. Source Green America
Penalizes small businesses that use its platforms. The Sun magazine did a feature interview with author Stacy Mitchell on how Amazon undermines local economies and is bad for small businesses. The Wall Street Journal documented Amazon using data from 3rd party sellers to create its own products. In 2023, the US Federal Trade Commission, joined by 17 state Attorneys General, filed suit against Amazon for using its monopoly power to stamp out rivals. Source Green America
Amazon is a tax dodger. In 2018, Amazon faced scrutiny when it paid zero dollars in federal income taxes on its $11 billion profits and even received $129 million in tax rebates. Three years later, the company was only paying a federal income-tax rate of 6%. Without tax breaks, the company would have paid an additional $5 billion in taxes that year. The Institute for Local Self-Reliance has documented how Amazon’s tax dodging fueled its rise as a monopoly provider. Source Green America
Sells unsafe products. In July 2024, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission ordered Amazon to take action to stop selling unsafe products on its website to unsuspecting consumers. The Commission found that “400,000 products are subject to this order: specifically, faulty carbon monoxide (CO) detectors, hairdryers without electrocution protection, and children’s sleepwear that violated federal flammability standards.” Source Green America
How to Boycott Amazon
The first step is to stop thinking and talking about Amazon altogether. Get it out of your system. We’ve been conditioned to buy at Amazon for so many years, so it will take a little work.
You hear: “boycott Amazon,” the first thing that comes to your mind is that shopping online will end. See, Amazon has already formatted your mind, making you think they are the only viable online shopping place. Erase that from your head. There is a world of great online stores waiting to be discovered. Your online shopping experience will only gain by dumping Amazon
You can terminate your Amazon account or stop using your Prime credit card, and that’s it. But there is a better way: boycott Amazon with an added benefit.
In the past, when I saw a cool product advertised on Instagram or some webpage, I would copy the name of the product and paste it on the Amazon site, and boom! There was the product for sale on Amazon, add to cart, and click “buy it.”
Do the opposite. Go window shopping on Amazon and search for the millions of things they sell there. Get the name of the product, or simply look for the name of the vendor. From there, search for that vendor or product online. You’ll see that the vendor also has their own website. You can buy it directly from them, and it's usually cheaper than Amazon because you’ve eliminated the middleman. Pretty cool.
LET’S SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE TO THE GREEDY BASTARDS, TAX DODGERS THAT WANT TO TAKE BENEFITS OF THE MOST NEEDY SO THAT THEY CAN BE EVEN RICHER. BOYCOTT THEIR ASSES NOW!!!
Yes. I got rid of Amazon almost 2 months ago in favour of buying things l actually NEED locally instead of impulse buying on that Nazi site. It keeps the $$ in my community and helps good hard working people, instead of billionaire traitors. I thought it would be hard but I have not been bothered at all. It’s nice to get out and talking to people instead of just sitting at a keyboard being persuaded I needed some Chinese manufactured junk because it was cheap and somebody would bring it to me. I wish i had the $$ I wasted on useless junk from Amazon. I got rid of my Amazon’s Prime and Stack Tv through prime. Again, not an issue at all. I deleted my FB about 2 months ago too, and what a breath of fresh air it was to get away from what had become a right wing propaganda hellhole. I am refusing to support sites that spew propaganda because the owners have made some satanic pact with evil itself, felon 47. I want to support people who actually PAY TAXES on the money they make, so it circulates back into the economy, not some greedy parasite hoarding billions so they can send their blow up doll girlfriends on vanity flights into space. I’ve j reached my limit of tolerating the greed and excessive consumerism we have been brainwashed to accept by the people living high off the hog on our money, and giving back absolutely nothing.
This was the push I needed! Thanks a billion (pun intended)
